Carpenter File 8: Austrian Cooking Class

You all are going to be so excited that I took this class when I get back!!! I’ve learned how to cook Viener Schnitzel, Apple Strudel, Austrian Potato Salad, Homemade Salad Dressing, Sacher Torta (amazing Salzburg chocolate cake), and a fantastic Salzburg Soup. And that’s just been in two classes!!! My teacher for the class is the school cook, Bergeta. She is so much fun! We are always covered with flour and breadcrumbs after every class. We make each dish and after class we all sit down and eat the fruits of our labor. There are 8 of us in the class and its SO much fun! I and Lisa are in the picture looking down on our dumplings!
Family, I’m definitely cooking you an all Austrian meal sometime when we’re all home for Christmas. Katie, we are definitely having a superb Austrian dinner of sorts in February! I can’t wait to show you how to make Apple Strudel!
