The purpose of this blog is to maintain contact with my friends and family while I'm in Austria. Since I am absolutely terrible with keeping up with people and writing individual e-mails everyone can just go to one place to see my pictures and find out whats going on!

I'm enjoying the adventure of life God has put before me. I'm a red head from North Carolina who got sent to Southern California by divine detour. I'm a little more in love with an amazing man named David every day. I hope you enjoy my stories and musings!

Carpenter File 4: My Room & Family

Ah now that the rainy weather has set in I have a time to finish all the blog updates I've been planning for a while. First of all my family here in Austria. I live with a wonderful and sweet older widow named Bea, Short for Beatrix. She has a delightfully obese cat named Baguira. I know I spelled his name wrong but it’s the panther from The Jungle Book. Oddly enough I haven’t been disturbed by my cat allergies at all. Bea is an excellent cook and she has dinner ready for Kelsey and me sharply at 7:00 each night. It is always a fantastic Austrian meal. But Bea speaks very little English and I speak almost no German so it has made for some very humorous and confusing conversations. For example the mix up where my not understanding the washing machine lead to my cloths washing for 5 hours... But overall living with Bea has been a fantastic experience and I really enjoy her. The other girl living in the house is Kelsey. She also goes to college of Salzburg. We get along well and laugh a lot about pirates and Canada. Kelsey is also a good German speaker and is a saint for constantly helping me! (Becky: Kelsey gave me these fabulous Canadian songs that you MUST hear!) We both have our own room and share a bathroom. The above are pictures from my room and views from my balcony. Bea has two children; both are married children of their own. Her daughter lives nearby and comes around frequently. Fortunately her daughter speaks good English and has sorted out many of the confusions and awkwardness. The family in the picture with the mountains in the background is Bea's son and his wife and children. I like them a lot too! They are extremely friendly and fun to spend time with. They really enjoy wine tasting and have taught me a great deal about the local culture. Overall my family is fantastic!
